On January 25, 2010, the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a press release announcing that it voted to institute an investigation of Certain Electronic Devices, Including Mobile Phones, Portable Music Players, And Computers (Inv. No. 337-TA-701).

The investigation is based on a December 29, 2009 complaint filed by Nokia Corporation of Finland and Nokia Inc. of White Plains, New York alleging violation of Section 337 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain electronic devices, including mobile phones, portable music players, and computers which allegedly infringe U.S. Patent Nos. 6,714,091, 6,834,181, 6,895,256, 6,518,957, 6,073,036, 6,262,735, and 6,924,789.  See our December 29, 2009 post for more details.

According to the Notice of Investigation, the Commission has identified Apple, Inc. of Cupertino, California as the respondent in this investigation.

Further, Rett Snotherly of the Office of Unfair Import Investigations is identified on the Notice of Investigation as the Investigative Attorney assigned to handle this investigation.
