ITC Institutes investigation no. 337-TA-666
On January 9, 2009, the U.S. International Trade Commission voted to institute an investigation of certain cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) inverter circuits and products containing same. The investigation is based on a December 15, 2008 complaint filed by O2 Micro International Ltd. of the Cayman Islands and 02 Micro Inc. of Santa Clara, California. The complaint alleges violations of section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) inverter circuits that are used in notebook computer screens and other LCD displays.
The ITC has identified the following as respondents in this investigation:
- Monolithic Power Systems Inc. of San Jose, California;
- Microsemi Corporation of Irvine, California;
- ASUSTek Computer Inc. of Taiwan;
- ASUSTek Computer International America of Fremont, California;
- LG Electronics of Korea;
- LG Electronics U.S.A. of Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey;
- LG Display Co., Ltd., of Korea;
- LG Display America, Inc. of San Jose, California;
- BenQ Corporation of Taiwan; and
- BenQ America Corp. of Irvine, California.
In its complaint, O2 Micro alleges that the respondents infringe U.S. Patents Nos. 7,417,382; 6,856,519; 6,809,938; and 7,120,035.
