ITC Institutes Investigation (337-TA-724) Regarding Certain Electronic Devices With Image Processing Systems
On June 25, 2010, the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a press release announcing that it voted to institute an investigation of Certain Electronic Devices With Image Processing Systems, Components Thereof, and Associated Software (Inv. No. 337-TA-724).
The investigation is based on a May 28, 2010 complaint and a June 22, 2010 letter supplementing the complaint filed by S3 Graphics, Inc. of Fremont, California and S3 Graphics Co., Ltd. of the Cayman Islands alleging violation of Section 337 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain electronic devices with image processing systems, components thereof, and associated software that infringe U.S. Patent Nos. 7,043,087, 6,775,417, 6,683,978, and 6,658,146. According to the Notice of Investigation, the ITC has identified Apple Inc. of Cupertino, California as the respondent in this investigation.
Further, Kecia J. Reynolds of the Office of Unfair Import Investigations is identified in the Notice of Investigation as the Investigative Attorney assigned to handle this investigation.
Lastly, Chief ALJ Paul J. Luckern issued a notice indicating that ALJ E. James Gildea will be the presiding Administrative Law Judge in this investigation.
