ITC Institutes Investigation (337-TA-727) Regarding Certain Underground Cable And Pipe Locators

On July 13, 2010, the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a press release announcing that it voted to institute an investigation of Certain Underground Cable and Pipe Locators (Inv. No. 337-TA-727).

 The investigation is based on a June 10, 2010 complaint and a June 29, 2010 letter supplementing the complaint filed by Radiodetection, Ltd. of the United Kingdom alleging violation of Section 337 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain underground cable and pipe locators that infringe U.S. Patent No. 6,268,731.  See our June 14, 2010 post for more details.

According to the Notice of Investigation, the ITC has identified Vivax-Metrotech Corp. of Santa Clara, California, SebaKMT of Germany, and Leidi Utility Supply Ltd. of China as the respondents in this investigation.

Further, Christopher G. Paulraj of the Office of Unfair Import Investigations is identified in the Notice of Investigation as the Investigative Attorney assigned to handle this investigation.

Lastly, Chief ALJ Paul J. Luckern issued a notice indicating that ALJ Charles E. Bullock will be the presiding Administrative Law Judge in this investigation.
