On February 27, 2014, the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a press release announcing their vote to institute an investigation of Certain Television Sets, Television Receivers, Television Tuners, and Components Thereof (Inv. No. 337-TA-910).

The investigation is based on a January 28, 2014 complaint filed by Cresta Technology Corp. of Santa Clara, California alleging violation of Section 337 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain television sets, television receivers, television tuners, and components thereof that infringe one or more claims of U.S. Patent Nos. 7,075,585, 7,265,792, and 7,251,466.  See our January 30, 2014 post for more details.

According to the Notice of Investigation, the ITC has identified Silicon Laboratories, Inc. of Austin, Texas; Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd of South Korea; Samsung Electronics America, Inc. of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey; LG Electronics Inc. of South Korea; LG Electronics U.S.A. of Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey; MaxLinear, Inc. of Carlsbad, California; Sharp Corp. of Japan; Sharp Electronics Corp. of Mahwah, New Jersey; and Vizio, Inc. of Irvine, California as the respondents in this investigation.

Lastly, Chief ALJ Charles E. Bullock issued a notice indicating that Dee Lord will be the presiding Administrative Law Judge in this investigation.
