Barry Herman
BARRY J. HERMAN is a partner in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group and co-chair of the ITC Litigation Practice Group. He has represented both domestic and foreign clients involved in patent and other intellectual property disputes before the United States Federal District Courts and the International Trade Commission. Mr. Herman, who has a degree in chemical engineering, has litigation experience in a wide array of technologies in the chemical, mechanical, and electrical arts. His practice areas include patent litigation, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical and medical devices. Mr. Herman also has significant experience in drafting opinions and in advising clients with respect to the development of patent portfolios.
Prior to joining Oblon, Spivak, Mr. Herman worked at a large general practice firm in D.C. where he practiced patent litigation. Prior to law school, Mr. Herman worked for several years as a chemical engineer, first in a hydrosulfuric acid manufacturing plant, and then in various oil refineries on the East Coast, where he specialized in anti-foulant and anti-corrosion chemical technology.
Mr. Herman received his Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law and was awarded the Order of the Coif upon graduation. Prior to attending law school, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from Lehigh University.
