On January 23, 2014, the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a press release announcing their vote to institute an investigation of Certain Vision-Based Driver Assistance System Cameras And Components Thereof (Inv. No. 337-TA-907). The investigation is based on a December 23, 2013 complaint filed by Magna Electronics Inc. of Auburn Hills, Michigan alleging violations of Section 337 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain vision-based driver assistance system cameras that infringe one or more claims of U.S. Patent Nos. 8,116,929 and 8,593,521.  See our December 30, 2013 post for more details on the complaint. According to the Notice of Investigation, the Commission has identified TRW Automotive U.S. LLC of Livonia, Michigan as the respondent in this investigation. Lastly, Chief ALJ Charles E. Bullock issued a notice indicating that Theodore R. Essex will be the presiding Administrative Law Judge in this investigation.

On January 24, 2014, the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a press release announcing their vote to institute an investigation of Certain Soft-Edged Trampolines And Components Thereof (Inv. No. 337-TA-908). The investigation is based on a December 24, 2013 complaint and December 31, 2013 and January 14, 2014 supplements to the complaint filed by Springfree Trampoline, Inc., Springfree Trampoline USA Inc., and Springfree Limited Partnership – all of Canada – alleging violations of Section 337 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain soft-edged trampolines and components thereof that infringe certain claims of U.S. Patent No. 6,319,174.  See our December 31, 2013 post for more details on the complaint. According to the Notice of Investigation, the Commission has identified Vuly Trampolines Pty Ltd. of Australia as the respondent in this investigation.  The Notice of Investigation further indicates that the Office of Unfair Import Investigations will not participate as a party in this investigation.  Lastly, Chief ALJ Charles E. Bullock issued a notice indicating that Thomas B. Pender will be the presiding Administrative Law Judge in this investigation.

On April 9, 2014, the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a press release announcing their vote to institute an investigation of Certain Sulfentrazone, Sulfentrazone Compositions, and Processes for Making Sulfentrazone (Inv. No. 337-TA-914). The investigation is based on a March 5, 2014 complaint and March 26, 2014 letter clarifying the complaint filed by FMC Corp. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (“FMC”) alleging violation of Section 337 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain certain sulfentrazone active ingredient and formulated sulfentrazone compositions made by a process that infringes one or more claims of U.S. Patent No. 7,169,952.  See our March 6, 2014 post for more details.  According to the Notice of Investigation, the Commission has identified Beijing Nutrichem Science and Technology Stock Co., Ltd. of China, Summit Agro USA, LLC of Cary, North Carolina, Summit Agro North America Holding Corp. of New York, New York, and Jiangxi Heyi Chemicals Co. On May 16, 2014, the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a notice of investigation of Certain Set-Top Boxes, Gateways, Bridges And Adapters and Components Thereof (Inv. No. 337-TA-915). On August 27, 2014, the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a press release announcing their vote to institute an investigation of Certain Windshield Wipers and Components Thereof (Inv. No. 337-TA-928). Please note that Oblon Spivak represents Complainants in this matter.

The investigation is based on a July 25, 2014 complaint filed by Valeo North America, Inc. of Troy, Michigan and Delmex de Juarez S. de R.L. de C.V. of Mexico alleging violation of Section 337 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain windshield wipers and components thereof that infringe one or more claims of U.S. Patent Nos. 7,891,044; 7,937,798; and 8,220,106.  See our August 1, 2014 post for more details on the complaint.
