On February 29, 2012, the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a press release announcing their vote to institute an investigation of Certain Ink Application Devices and Components Thereof and Methods of Using The Same (Inv. No. 337-TA-832).

The investigation is based on a January 13, 2012 complaint filed by MT.Derm GmbH of Germany and Nouveau Cosmetique USA Inc. of Orlando, Florida alleging violation of Section 337 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain ink application devices and components thereof that infringe one or more claims of U.S. Patent Nos. 6,345,553 and 6,505,530.  See our February 1, 2012 post for more details.

According to the Notice of Investigation, the ITC has identified T-Tech Tattoo Device Inc. of Canada, Yiwu Beyond Tattoo Equipments Co., Ltd. of China, and Guangzhou Pengcheng Cosmetology Firm of China as the respondents in this investigation.

Additionally, Chief ALJ Charles E. Bullock issued a notice indicating that he will be the presiding Administrative Law Judge in this investigation.
