On April 11, 2012, the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a press release announcing their vote to institute an investigation of Certain Audiovisual Components and Products Containing the Same (Inv. No. 337-TA-837).

The investigation is based on a March 2, 2012 complaint and March 28, 2012 amended complaint filed by LSI Corporation of Milpitas, California and its subsidiary Agere Systems Inc. of Allentown, Pennsylvania alleging violation of Section 337.  See our March 13, 2012 post for more details.

According to the Notice of Investigation, the ITC has identified the following entities as respondents in this investigation: 

  • Funai Electric Company, Ltd. of Japan

  • Funai Corporation, Inc. of Rutherford, New Jersey

  • P&F USA, Inc. of Alpharetta, Georgia

  • Funai Service Corporation of Groveport, Ohio

  • MediaTek Inc. of Taiwan

  • MediaTek USA Inc. of San Jose, California

  • MediaTek Wireless, Inc. (USA) of Woburn, Massachusetts

  • Ralink Technology Corporation of Taiwan

  • Ralink Technology Corporation (USA) of Cupertino, California

  • Realtek Semiconductor Corporation of Taiwan

The Notice of Investigation further indicates that the Office of Unfair Import Investigation will not participate as a party in this investigation.

Lastly, Chief ALJ Charles E. Bullock issued a notice indicating that David P. Shaw will be the presiding Administrative Law Judge in this investigation.
