On April 25, 2012, the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a press release announcing their vote to institute an investigation of Certain Semiconductor Integrated Circuit Devices and Products Containing Same (Inv. No. 337-TA-840).

The investigation is based on a March 23, 2012 complaint, a March 30, 2012 corrected complaint, and an April 16, 2012 amended complaint and supplement filed by Microchip Technology Incorporated of Chandler, Arizona alleging violation of Section 337 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain semiconductor integrated circuit devices and products containing the same that infringe one or more claims of U.S. Patent Nos. 7,225,088, 6,245,597, 6,159,765, 5,760,720, 6,559,783, and 6,847,904.  See our March 27, 2012 post for more details.

According to the Notice of Investigation, the ITC has identified Intersil Corp. of Milpitas, California, Zilker Labs, Inc. of Austin, Texas, and Techwell, LLC of Milpitas, California as the respondents in this investigation.  The Notice of Investigation further indicates that the Office of Unfair Import Investigations will not participate as a party in this investigation.

Additionally, Chief ALJ Charles E. Bullock issued a notice indicating that Robert K. Rogers, Jr. will be the presiding Administrative Law Judge in this investigation.
