On January 25, 2013, the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a press release announcing their vote to institute an investigation of Certain Wireless Communications Equipment and Articles Therein (Inv. No. 337-TA-866).

The investigation is based on a December 21, 2012 complaint filed by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., of Seoul, Republic of Korea, and Samsung Telecommunications America, LLC, of Richardson, Texas alleging violation of Section 337 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of wireless communication equipment that infringe one or more claims of U.S. Patent Nos. 7,782,749; 8,165,081; 8,208,438; 8,228,827; 6,617,929; 6,767,813 and 6,865,682.  See our December 27, 2012 post for more details.

According to the Notice of Investigation, the ITC has identified the following companies as the Respondents in this investigation:

Lastly, Chief ALJ Charles E. Bullock issued a notice indicating that E. James Gildea will be the presiding Administrative Law Judge in this investigation.
