On March 10, 2017, ALJ Thomas B. Pender issued Order No. 6 in Certain Liquid Crystal eWriters and Components Thereof (Inv. No. 337-TA-1035).

By way of background, this investigation is based on a December 8, 2016 complaint filed by Kent Displays, Inc. alleging violation of Section 337 by way of unlawful importation into the U.S., selling for importation, and/or selling within the U.S. after importation certain liquid crystal eWriters and components thereof that infringe U.S. Patent Nos. 7,351,506 and 8,947,604. See our December 13, 2016 and January 11, 2017 posts for more details on the complaint and Notice of Investigation, respectively.

According to Order No. 6, ALJ Pender set the procedural schedule for the investigation. Specifically, ALJ Pender determined, inter alia, that the Markman hearing will take place on June 12-13, 2017; the evidentiary hearing will commence on October 2, 2017 and conclude no later than October 6, 2017; the initial determination will be issued on January 11, 2018; and May 11, 2018 is the target date for completing the investigation.
